One thing...
I find it hard, sometimes, to look at YA novels easily.

There's so many out there (yeah, lookin' at you a bit Twilight) that don't really develop character super well.

That might be why I was so excited to find melissa_writing's work - YA fantasy that isn't cheesy (well, overly), but with really developed characters.

I'd say Tamora Pierce would be my favorite YA fantasy author. I haven't run across Melissa Marr before. I'll have to give her a look-see!

No worries at all!

Tamora Pierce is fantastic - I'd say Marr's books are a bit of an older version there, lots of amazing stuff.
